Family Homestay in Bali

One of the best ways to understand better the Balinese culture and tradition during your holidays on the island is by staying directly in a family home stay in a village away from the bustle of the towns and the tourist resorts. This type of stay gives you an understanding and experience of real daily life of Balinese people through various activities in the family compound where you can participate. In our opinion, this is also one of the realizations of ‘fair travel and tourism’ that enables you to make a relation and a direct contact with the local people so as to understand their customs and their way of life. In addition, your expense related to your stay on the spot regardless of the amount constitutes a real contribution to the improvement of their daily life.

The village of "Dukuh Sidan"

The village tempel

Over the last five years there have been more and more travelers in search of  family home stay. Their main purpose is particularly to soak up the local culture, tradition and everyday life of Balinese people. In respond to this demand and expectations, we have found a Balinese family in a small village in the South central of Bali, about 6 kilometers east of Ubud. This small village is called “Desa Dukuh Sidan” inhabited by around 350 people and located between rice fields and lush tropical vegetation away from the main road traffics.

Ngurah – that’s the name of your host – together with his brother have recently renovated a half of their house into a family home stay, simple but very well maintained with indoor bathroom. With all this simplicity and a typical Balinese hospitality, Ngurah and his family await you with a special and warm reception by offering you a small young coconut decorated with flowers as a welcome drink and some small homemade cakes. Here, you are the guests of the whole family, and as it is often the case in the Balinese family, the give a great respect to the gusts.
